Da Cruz Confirms Double Injury Blow for Kaizer Chiefs: Da Silva And Chislett Ruled Out For MTN8 Loss
Kaizer Chiefs head coach Fernando da Cruz has revealed that injuries to Flavio Da Silva and Ethan Chislett left Amakhosi short-handed in their MTN8 Cup defeat to Golden Arrows.
The 1-0 loss at FNB Stadium means Chiefs are out of the MTN8, and Da Cruz says the absences were a factor.
"We Were Left Minus One"
Speaking after the match, Da Cruz gave an update on both players.
“First thing, Silva got hurt yesterday at the training, so we were left minus one,” he said, as per his translator.
With a packed fixture list ahead, the coach confirmed the club is being cautious.
“We have three games in six days, so we prefer to be careful with him.”
Chislett Also Sidelined
The Portuguese tactician said Chislett is in the same situation.
“The same thing for Chislett also.”
Both Da Silva and Chislett have been key in Chiefs’ early season plans, adding creativity and depth to the squad. Losing them on the eve of the MTN8 clash forced Da Cruz to reshuffle.
With three games in six days coming up, Chiefs will be hoping both players return quickly as they look to bounce back in the PSL.
